Shinners’ interpretation is like a swim in a river of Bach rather than a mathematician’s thought palace of Bach. I like it immensely.

Thanks so much for posting about Evan Shinners' recording project! I'd just like to add that his readings are not only "deeply personal, variegated, and idiosyncratic," but deeply engaged with the latest Bach scholarship. So glad you're enjoying them.

Well, <bleep>. I thought I was going to get work done today, but instead I am listening to all of this good stuff. I have lived with Bach for a long time (via the guitar and otherwise), and was unaware of all of this. Thank you!
