You're in for a treat. The Koln Concert is his most famous improvised show -- be sure to check out Bremen/Lausanne and the Sun Bear Concerts, too.

On the classical side, definitely listen to his CPE Bach album released last year.

His "Standards Trio" with Gary Peacock and Jack DeJohnette is worth checking out as well. Along with Miles Davis's groups, the Bill Evans Trio, Coltrane's classic quartet, and a handful of others they stand in the top tier of the Jazz world in terms of group interaction/improvisation.

Yes. My favorite disc of that trio is the improvised collection "Changeless" -- heavy grooving.
