Gould is great in his own way but it doesn’t always serve the music!

Gould's idiosyncratic treatment of Bach deserves criticism. Bach's music is best played as presented. That being said, I find no fault with transcriptions to other media, but don't change the music itself. Trombonists love the cello suites.

BWV 1019 has a great "mini Brandenburg" feeling to it. Great post. I laughed out loud at your description of the photo - boy oh boy do I remember what I was wearing in 1983!

Those last two clips with the "twists" are great, it's amazing how much of Bach's music seems to hover between emotions of joy and sadness, or somehow seems to superimpose them on each other like double stops on the violin.
