You're absolutely right about 972. That middle movement doesn't "sing" the way the original does (#9 from L'Estro Armonico). I remember thinking the same when I heard it, even though it's a good technical representation. The keyboard transcription sounds vapid and too repetitive.

When it's guitar there's a lot of reverse engineering about where the hands are supposed to go - how do the notes fit together on a series of frets that are nearby. To that end it's note by note with the shape of the harmony in mind.
